JMS PUBLICATION ETHICS
PUBLICATION ETHICS

JMS (Jurnal Manajemen Sinergi) is a peer-reviewed electronic journal system. This indicates that ethical behavior is required from all parties involved in the publication of articles in this journal, including authors, editors-in-chief, the Editorial Board, peer reviewers, and the publisher (Khairun University, Ternate - UNKHAIR).

Journal Publication Ethics Guidelines

The publication of peer-reviewed articles in JMS is a fundamental foundation in developing a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the authors' work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. Therefore, it is important to agree on the expected standards of ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publication process: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the public.

Khairun University, as the publisher of JMS (Jurnal Manajemen Sinergi), assumes the responsibility of overseeing all legal and procedural aspects of publication while maintaining reasonable flexibility. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenues do not impact or influence editorial decisions. Additionally, the Management Study Program at Khairun University and the Editorial Board will facilitate communication with other journals and/or publishers when useful and necessary.

Publication Decisions

The JMS (Jurnal Manajemen Sinergi) editor is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always guide this decision. Editors may be guided by the journal’s editorial board policies and constrained by applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may also consult with other editors or reviewers when making this decision.

Fairness and Non-Discrimination

An editor must evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content without regard to the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality

The editorial team must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisors, and the publisher, as necessary.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communication with the author, may also help the author improve the manuscript.

Timeliness

Any invited reviewer who feels unqualified to assess the research reported in a manuscript should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Objectivity Standards

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting academic arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by a relevant citation. Reviewers should also alert the editor if they notice substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published papers they are personally aware of.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the manuscript.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors of original research reports must present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data should be accurately represented in the manuscript. A manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable. Authors must also comply with publication requirements regarding originality, non-plagiarism, and prior unpublished status.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide raw data (quantitative or qualitative) in connection with a paper for editorial review.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If a study involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment that have unusual hazards in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial or substantive conflicts of interest that could be interpreted as influencing the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project must be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
