Abstrak

Indonesia is still facing malnutrition problems among the children under 5 years. The prevalence of children under 5 with stunting is 26,1% and children under 5 with underweight is 17,1% in 2022. North Maluku is one of province in east part of Indonesia which struggle to decrease the number of children with malnutrition. This research was a cross sectional study to analyze the correlation between nutrition status index on the children below the red line in Ternate City, North Maluku. The samples were 233 children from 8 sub-districts in Ternate City who indicated having malnutrition. The result showed there was a significant and fair correlation between weight for age (WFA) index and height for age (HFA) index in children under 2 years old. Beside that, there was a significant and strong correlation between WFA index and HFA index in children around 2-5 years old. In general, there was a significant and fair correlation between WFA index and HFA index among chindren under 5 years old. However, nutrition status between weight for height (WFH) index and HFA index did not have any significant correlation among chindren around 2-5 years old.
