Potensi Hijauan Pakan Dan Daya Dukungnya Terhadap Populasi Ternak Ruminansia Di Kecamatan Tidore Utara Kota Tidore Kepulauan

This study aimed to determine the potential and carrying capacity of forage production for ruminant livestock populations in North Tidore district, Tidore Kepulauan city, for about 6 monthsfrom July to December 2020. This study used the secondary data, which were collected from the Bapeda, Central Statistics Agency, and Agricultural Bureauof Tidore Kepulauan cityand the primary data which were obtained through field surveys. The results showed the availability of forage at the research location. The types of forage found at the study sites wereCentrosema pubescens, Brachiaria decumben, and Setaria spahcelata. The carrying capacity of pastures production from three sub-districts indicated that the study sites in the rainy season yielded 43.67 t/ha of forages and livestock units (LSU) as many as 7 LSU of cattle, 51 LSU of goats,while in the summer  they produced 16 t/ha of forages, 2LSU of cattle,and 14 LSUof goats. North Tidore District had a land area for natural grazing of 4754.17 ha, which can accommodate 34827.9 LSU of cattle and 244012 LSU of goats during the rainy season and 11346.5 LSU of cattle and 79425.6 LSU of goats during the summer season.
