Abstract

Indonesia has very potential coastal and marine resources. Indonesia has extensive mangroves with a diversity of mangrove species. There are changes in the area and density of Segara Anakan mangroves from year to year. This study aims to analyze changes in the area and density of mangrove vegetation in 2015 and 2018 by utilizing Landsat 8 imagery in the Segara Anakan area. Radiometric correction of Landsat 8 image data is used at the mangrove pre-processing stage. Mangrove processing stages are carried out using the RGB 564 composite method, then a supervised classification approach is used to separate the three study focuses, namely waters, mangroves, and non-mangrove. The next step is to use the NDVI formula to calculate mangrove density. Research findings show that the area of mangroves in Segara Anakan between 2015 and 2018 has decreased by 3,427.65 ha. The increase in mangrove density at low to moderate density was 612.36 ha and 322.56 ha, while at high density it decreased 880.92 ha.
