Edukasi Pendidikan Karakter Kepada Peserta Didik Di SMP Negeri 2 Kota Tidore Kepulauan

Abstrak

The national character building is still a fundamental issue for this nation, including the society in North Maluku Province. The youths or teenagers nowadays are still relatively often doing various negative behaviors due to the impact of free globalization such as drugs, bullying, hedonism, brawls, free sex, etc. Then this reality has become a serious concern for the educational world, especially academics, so they have to be actively involved in overcoming the problems by socialization, sharing of knowledge and experiences that can help prevent these negative behaviors. Therefore, it is important to hold community service, especially students at SMP Negeri 2 Kota Tidore Kepulauan. This activity aims to make the students have good character and civic awareness and virtues. This activity used lecture and discussion methods in the form of focus group discussions (FGD). The steps of this activity start from site observation, coordination with school leaders, program implementation, and evaluation. The result of this activity is the character building of students at SMP Negeri 2 Kota Tidore Kepulauan by carrying out through three efforts, namely: 1) Learning character education in all subjects, 2) Habituation, and 3) Exemplary educators/teachers and school leaders. It is hoped that students will have good character in the aspects of knowledge, attitudes and behavior in daily interactions both at school, in the family and in society as the embodiment of smart and good citizens
