URGENSI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER PEDULI LINGKUNGAN UNTUK MASYARAKAT PESISIR DI KELURAHAN TOGOLOBE, KECAMATAN PULAU HIRI, KOTA TERNATE

Abstrak

One of the fundamental problems for urban areas is environmental damage along with the progress of development and population growth. The more a city develops, the more problems related to the environment. These problems include, such as littering, increasing plastic waste, air pollution due to vehicle pollution, marine pollution due to household waste, etc., resulting in various infectious diseases and ecological disasters. This condition is due to the low public awareness in protecting their own environment. Therefore, we, a team of lecturers together with students from the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program (PPKn Study Program) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Khairun University initiated and implemented environmental socialization in the form of community service in one of the coastal areas, namely Togolobe Village, Pulau Hiri District, Ternate City with the theme "The Urgency of Environmental Care Character Education for Coastal Communities". The aim is to provide solutions to overcome bad behavior in society in littering and household waste, as well as to foster awareness and civic virtues to care for the environment. The steps of this Socialization activity start from location observation, coordination with local stakeholders (officials), implementation, and evaluation. The result is a change in environmental conditions in Togolobe Village which is increasingly clean and healthy, and comfortable. keywords: Character Education, Environmental Care, Coastal Community
