Development of Inquiry-Based Student Worksheets on the Material Plants as Sources of Life on Earth for Elementary School Students

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid, feasible, and practical inquiry-based student worksheet on the topic of plants as sources of life on Earth for use in public elementary school 1 in Ternate City. The method used in this study is the research and development method, adapted from Borg & Gall, which includes the stages of data/information collection, product creation planning, developing the initial product, validating and testing the product, and finalizing the product. The results of the study show that: the developed student worksheet has met the very valid criteria with the following scores: the completeness aspect of the student worksheet elements with an average score of 5 (very valid category), the aspect of the suitability of content and material with an average score of 4,42 (very valid category), the aspect of construction feasibility with an average score of 4,71 (very valid category), the technical aspect with an average score of 5 (very valid category), and the aspect of the suitability of the material with the inquiry learning model with an average score of 5 (very valid category). For the overall average aspect, a score of 4,82 (very valid category) was obtained. Meanwhile, for media experts, it shows that the developed student worksheets have met the valid and very valid categories with the following scores: coloring aspect with an average score of 4,5 (very valid category), design aspect with an average score of 3,25 (valid category), graphic aspect with an average score of 4 (valid category), and language aspect with an average score of 4,5 (very valid category). For the overall average aspect, a score of 4,06 (valid category) was obtained. For student and teacher response data on the developed student worksheets, an average percentage of 100% was obtained in the "very feasible and convenient" category. Therefore, this student worksheet can be used as a science learning medium to develop students' science process skills and scientific attitudes through the steps of the inquiry learning model, namely student orientation to the problem, formulating problems, proposing hypotheses, collecting data, testing hypotheses, and formulating conclusions.
