Matriks yang biasa dipelajari adalah matriks atas lapangan. Matriks ini selalu mempunyai rank. Selanjutnya jika lapangan diganti dengan ring, maka matriks tersebut akan mempunyai ciri khas tersendiri. Untuk itu dalam tulisan ini akan dikaji bagaimana cara mencari rank dari matriks atas ring tersebut.
