Abstract

Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg.) is an important commodity whose productivity is influenced by latex physiological. Differences in physiological characteristics among clones affect their responses to tapping systems to support tapping management. This study aimed to analyze the latex physiological characteristics of PB 340 and PB 330 clones on the HO1 panel in a mature rubber plantation. The research was conducted at PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional I Sungei Putih Estate and the Physiology Laboratory of Sungei Putih Research Station from January-May 2026 using a non-factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level when significant differences were found. The results showed significant differences in latex physiological characteristics between PB 340 and PB 330 clones, as indicated by latex diagnosis parameters, namely sucrose (18.58 mM and 8.77 mM), thiol (1.02 µM and 0.48 µM), and inorganic phosphate (741.54 mM and 353.29 mM), respectively. Latex production was 80.09 ml in PB 340 and 82.30 ml in PB 330. These physiological characteristics were associated with latex regeneration capacity and productivity for determining appropriate tapping systems according to the characteristics of each clone.
