Abstract

Agriculture systems in Halmahera have different characteristic with western Indonesia agriculture. Swidden Cultivation is very dominant and had been tradition years ago. Rare of data and information of Halmahera’s original agriculture systems have to place the reflection to ethnobothany approach. There are 3 agricultural system in Halmahera. Swidden cultivation with every social implication as Tobelo, swidden cultivation oriented to rice as Sahu, and the last is rice field and intercropping combination with highly commercial purpose as Javanese transmigrants.
