RESPON MASYARAKAT TERHADAP LARANGAN PENGGUNAAN KANTONG PLASTIK SEKALI PAKAI DI PASAR TRADISIONAL BARITO KOTA TERNATE

Abstrak

Population growth contributes to increasing waste generation, particularly plastic waste that is difficult to decompose and harmful to the environment. Ternate City, as an economic activity center, experiences plastic waste problems, including in traditional markets such as Barito Market. This study aims to describe public responses to the ban on single-use plastic bags based on three indicators: cognitive (knowledge), affective (attitude), and conative (behavior). The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and questionnaires administered to 80 respondents selected using simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using a Likert scale and percentages, while the instrument was tested for validity and reliability. The findings indicate that public responses were in the very strong category, with cognitive, affective, and conative percentages of 84.49%, 81.64%, and 82.66%, respectively. These results indicate that the community has good knowledge, positive attitudes, and supportive behavioral tendencies toward the ban on single-use plastic bags. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening policy socialization, providing affordable environmentally friendly alternatives, and improving policy monitoring in traditional markets.
