Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Authors who intend to submit manuscripts to Jurnal GeoCivic, Universitas Khairun, are required to follow the following guidelines:

  1. Manuscript Originality
    The submitted manuscript must be an original work that has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration by another journal. Authors must ensure that the manuscript is free from plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of academic misconduct.

  2. Focus and Scope
    The manuscript must be relevant to the focus and scope of Jurnal GeoCivic, particularly in the fields of Geography, Geography Education, Civic Education, socio-spatial studies, regional studies, and related interdisciplinary fields.

  3. Manuscript Language
    Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian using clear, concise, and academically appropriate language.

  4. Manuscript Structure
    Research articles should generally consist of the following sections:

    • Title

    • Author names and affiliations

    • Abstract

    • Keywords

    • Introduction

    • Literature Review

    • Research Methods

    • Results

    • Discussion

    • Conclusion

    • Acknowledgments, if applicable

    • References

  5. Title
    The title should be concise, specific, informative, and clearly reflect the main subject of the manuscript. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations and overly general expressions.

  6. Author Information
    Authors must provide their full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses. The corresponding author must be clearly identified and is responsible for communication with the editorial team throughout the publication process.

  7. Abstract
    The abstract should briefly describe the background, objectives, methods, main findings, and conclusion of the research. The abstract should be clear and informative and should not normally exceed 250 words.

  8. Keywords
    Authors should provide 3–5 keywords that represent the main concepts or subjects discussed in the manuscript.

  9. Introduction
    The introduction should clearly explain the research background, research problem, relevant previous studies, research gap, and objectives of the study. Authors are encouraged to use relevant and up-to-date scholarly references.

  10. Literature Review
    The literature review should present relevant theories, concepts, and previous research related to the topic. It should demonstrate the academic foundation of the study and explain its relationship to existing research.

  11. Research Methods
    The methods section must clearly explain how the research was conducted. It should include the research design, location, subjects or population and sample, data sources, data collection techniques, research instruments, and data analysis methods, as appropriate.

  12. Results
    The results should present the findings of the research clearly and systematically. Tables, figures, maps, charts, or other visual materials may be used when necessary to support the presentation of the findings.

  13. Discussion
    The discussion should interpret the research findings and relate them to relevant theories and previous studies. Authors should explain the significance and contribution of the findings to the development of knowledge and practice.

  14. Conclusion
    The conclusion should directly address the research objectives or questions and summarize the main findings of the study. Recommendations or implications may be included where appropriate.

  15. Tables, Figures, and Maps
    Tables, figures, charts, and maps must be clearly numbered and titled and must be referred to in the manuscript. All visual materials taken or adapted from other sources must include appropriate source information.

  16. Citations and References
    All sources cited in the manuscript must be included in the reference list, and all references listed must be cited in the manuscript. Authors should use relevant, credible, and preferably recent scholarly sources.

  17. Reference Management
    Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure consistency and accuracy in citations and references.

  18. Authorship
    All individuals listed as authors must have made substantial contributions to the research and preparation of the manuscript. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission to Jurnal GeoCivic.

  19. Conflict of Interest
    Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, personal, or professional interests that may influence the research or its interpretation.

  20. Research Ethics
    Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research is conducted in accordance with applicable ethical standards. Where required, appropriate research permission or ethical approval must be obtained before conducting the research.

  21. Manuscript Revision
    Authors are expected to respond to reviewers' and editors' comments professionally and revise the manuscript accordingly. A revised manuscript should clearly address the issues raised during the review process.

  22. Submission Process
    Manuscripts must be submitted through the Jurnal GeoCivic Online Journal System (OJS). Authors must complete all required information in the submission system and upload the manuscript according to the journal's requirements.

  23. Manuscript Template
    Authors are required to use the official Jurnal GeoCivic manuscript template when preparing their submission. Manuscripts that do not follow the required format may be returned to the authors for correction before entering the review process.

  24. Final Responsibility
    Authors are fully responsible for the content, accuracy, originality, and ethical integrity of their submitted manuscripts.

By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal GeoCivic, authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with these Author Guidelines.
