Peer Review Process

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal GeoCivic undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of the published articles.

The review process is conducted as follows:

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
Each submitted manuscript is first screened by the editor to determine whether it is suitable for the journal's focus and scope, meets the basic manuscript requirements, and does not contain major methodological flaws. The manuscript is also checked for originality and similarity using Turnitin. Based on the initial screening, the editor will decide whether the manuscript should proceed to the peer-review process or be rejected.

  2. Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two anonymous reviewers using a Single-Blind Review system. The reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its academic quality, originality, methodology, relevance, clarity, and contribution to the field. The reviewers' comments and recommendations are then provided to the corresponding author for revision and response.

  3. Editorial Evaluation
Following the peer-review process and the submission of the revised manuscript, the editorial team evaluates the reviewers' recommendations, the authors' revisions, and the overall quality of the manuscript to determine the appropriate editorial decision.

  4. Final Decision
The Editor makes the final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of the manuscript and communicates the decision to the corresponding author.

  5. Copyediting and Layout
Accepted manuscripts proceed to the copyediting and layout editing stages to ensure consistency in language, formatting, references, and journal style before publication.

Review Outcomes

Based on the results and recommendations of the peer-review process, the Editor makes the final publication decision. The review process generally takes approximately 8–14 weeks, depending on the review and revision process.

The possible editorial decisions are:

  • Reject — The manuscript is rejected and will not be published in Jurnal GeoCivic. The authors may not resubmit the same manuscript in its current form.

  • Major Revision — The manuscript requires substantial revisions based on the reviewers' comments. The revised manuscript will undergo further evaluation before a final decision is made.

  • Minor Revision — The manuscript is considered potentially publishable subject to minor revisions. The revisions will be evaluated by the editor to ensure that the required corrections have been adequately addressed.

  • Accept — The manuscript is accepted for publication without further substantive revisions.
